Interactive story games are games in which you decide how the story develop.
This is done so by choosing how the main character responds in certain situations.
Lately, I had started playing interactive story games on the Android phone.
One thing is for sure: it’s fun, there is personal involvement and is highly addictive.
In this article, you will find an overview of the interactive story games (that I can find).
And a review and comparison of four games Chapters, Decisions, Romance Club and Moments.

Chapters: Interactive Stories

Amount of stories

Chapters game offers a variety of stories to play.
It is one of the biggest interactive stories apps that I have seen.
The stories are divided into several categories.
Paranormal Romance, Romance (Sweet), Romance (steamy), Vampire Girl Series.
Young Adult, LGBTQ+, Mystery/Thriller, Fantasy/Sci-fi, Community Stories.

I played the following games:

  • Truth or Dare (Romance (Steamy))
  • Now and Then (Romance (Steamy))
  • Strange Neighbours (Paranormal Romance)

Duration and progress

Each chapter of the story takes over 15 minutes to play.
The duration of a chapter in minutes is mentioned before the start of a chapter.
To see how far you are in the chapter, there is a progress bar at the bottom of the app.
You can stop anytime before finishing a chapter, it will store the progress.

Advertisements

There are no advertisements during a chapter play, only at the end of a chapter.

Requirements to play a chapter

To play a chapter you need a ticket.
After a ticket is used, you need to wait 1 hour and 18 minutes for a new ticket.
You can get two free tickets.
To reduce the waiting with 30 minutes, you can watch an add.
There are 4 ads to watch, after that, you need to wait for some time for new ads to appear.
After a chapter is finished, you earn two diamonds.
Diamonds are used to buy outfits and for choices that you need to pay using diamonds.
In the store, you can buy tickets and diamonds with Google Play payment.

Romance Club

Amount of stories

The Romance Club game has four stories to play.
However, each story has a season 2 and who knows maybe season 3.
The next season is only available after you have finished the previous season.
I have not finished a season 2 story.

I have played:

  • Queen in 30 days season 1 & Queen in 30 days season 2
  • My Hollywood Story season 1 & My Hollywood Story season 2
  • Sails in the Fog season 1 & Sails in the Fog season 2
  • Moonborn season 1

Some of the stories are in development.
As of writing My Hollywood Story season 2, chapter 9 of 13, is in development.
Also Queen in 30 days season 2, chapter 5 of 10, is in development.

Duration and progress

There is no indication of the duration of a chapter.
Also, no progress bar while playing a chapter.
The average duration of a chapter (I measured the time myself) is around 20 minutes.

Advertisements

There are no advertisements at all.
Not during a chapter play, also not at the end of a chapter.

Requirements to play a chapter

To play a chapter you need a cup of coffee.
After a cup is used, you need to wait for some time to get a new cup.
You can get up to two free cups.
You can earn a free cup by watching an advertisement.
You can get one free diamond after returning to the game on a day.
And you can get two free diamonds by watching an ad.
Then you wait for two hours for a new ad.
Of course, there is a shop you can buy cups and diamonds.

Decisions

Amount of stories

As of writing, this app has ten stories and two stories coming up.
I played the following stories:

  • Queen of Hearts
  • Baby Crisis
  • Cheating Hearts
  • The Wedding Cruise
  • Amulet of Osiris
Screencaps of “Amulet of Osiris” game

Duration and progress

There is no indication of the duration of a chapter.
Also, no progress bar while playing a chapter.
The average duration of a chapter (I measured the time myself) is around 8 minutes.
This is relatively short, comparing to other interactive story games.

Advertisements

An advertisement is shown during the chapter and one after the chapter.
You need to wait for the video ad to stop before proceeding with the story.

Requirements to play a chapter

You need a move to play a chapter.
After playing a move a new move is added after waiting for a specific amount of time.
In total, you can accumulate two free moves.
The good thing about this game is, you can earn three moves by watching an ad.
And after that, you can watch another advertisement without waiting.
As far as I know, as long as you keep watching ads, you keep earning three moves every time.
So basically, you can keep playing the games.
At the end of each chapter, you earn 10 coins.
You can choose to double the coins by watching another ad.
Coins are used to buy an outfit or make a choice which needs payment.
Besides from getting unlimited free moves you can get 25 coins by watching an ad.
And of course, there is a store you can buy moves and coins.

Moments

Amount of stories

Like Chapters, Moments app, has 30+ stories and some of them have weekly updates.
The stories are put in different categories you can choose from.
Romance, Erotica, Billionaire, Paranormal, Royal, Campus life, Adventure.
Fan fic and Entertainment.

I played the stories:

  • Elope with you
  • Billion Dollar Bride
Screencap of “Elope with You” story

The difference between this app and the three apps I wrote earlier is the graphics.
In this app, the characters are in full body size and animated.
When a character laughs, the character shows this in its facial expression.

Duration and progress

Each chapter takes around 20 minutes to play.
I measured this by playing a few of them.
There is no duration mentioned at the beginning of the chapter.
A progress bar is at the bottom of the screen

Advertisements

There are no advertisements at all.
Not during a chapter play, also not at the end of a chapter.

“Star Tree” game to get free stars

Requirements to play a chapter

You need 10 stars to play a chapter, so 20 stars for two chapters.
Waiting automatically accumulates stars, 12 minutes for 1 star.
This continuous until 20 stars are accumulated.
Another way to collect free stars is by playing the game “Star Tree”.
You have a tree with stars and once the stars are ripened you can grab them.
You can bless the stars in other people’s trees.
Blessing a star will give you stardust that you can use to upgrade your stars in the tree.
After a chapter has been finished, you earn 1 diamond.
You can also earn one free diamond by watching an ad.
There is unlimited watching of ads, so unlimited earning of free diamonds.
Diamonds are used for paid choices in the game.
