Matcha is everywhere in Japan.
We cannot miss this as a part of the Japanese culture.
Matcha is high in fiber and rich in anti-oxidants, a superfood.
In this article, we will have a look at a homemade matcha pudding.
We will come to know: where to get it, how to prepare it ourselves; preparing it with or without toppings.
It’s relatively easy to buy food containing the ingredient matcha.
Besides matcha in the form of tea, you can easily find processed matcha in various products.
Think of matcha cookies, matcha cakes, matcha buns.
And of chocolate with matcha, matcha ice creams and of course matcha pudding.
In the popular Seven-Eleven shops in Japan, we can find delicious matcha puddings with cream and chocolate.
Homemade matcha pudding
What if you want to eat matcha pudding from home whenever you want?
For this, homemade matcha pudding is an ideal option.
Unless we don’t enjoy putting the little effort to make it. 😉
What I like about homemade pudding is they are delicious and simple.
Unless we add other ingredients as a topping, like topping with cocoa powder.
Where to buy these homemade matcha puddings?
One place is the “Seijo iishi” supermarket http://www.seijoishii.co.jp.
Probably more places have it.
This is the one I came across and I will write about this one.
In the paper box are five plastic packages, good for five matcha puddings.
How to prepare it?
Preparation time: within 5 minutes (not counting the time for boiling the water).
This is relatively easy.
1. First, boil some water.
2. Put 70 ml of the boiled water mixed with the matcha powder in a cup.
3. Put this in the fridge and let it stands for at least two hours. More than two hours is also okay.
4. After that, we can enjoy our homemade delicious matcha pudding.
Basically, it is about adding water to the matcha pudding ready powder.
One thing I appreciate is the focus we have put in it.
This focus is the same as cooking our meals.
It makes the food so much better because we have made it.
A little pride goes a long way. 😊
The taste of the matcha pudding is very good.
Matcha is the main ingredient here and the pudding really tastes very pure matcha.
If we love matcha, then this is something we will enjoy.
Mix in with chia seeds
Do we like to have more than just the plain pudding?
We can add some more ingredients to this pudding.
Chia seeds are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, iron, and calcium.
We can mix five teaspoons of chia seeds with the matcha powder and then mix it with the water.
Fruit and seeds toppings
We can also add some coconut cream or any other whipped cream on top.
Pieces of fruits or seeds on top of the pudding make it more complete.
Think of a few slices of strawberries, kiwis, bananas, pineapples, oranges or cherries.
Or add some berries on top, like blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
As for the seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds can be added on top.
Sesame seeds are high in antioxidants, reduces cholesterol and is calcium-rich.
Pumpkin seeds are high in protein, high source of omega 3 fat, iron, zinc and phosphorous, has calcium and vitamin B.
Sunflower seeds contain calcium, protein, iron and several vitamins.
Let’s enjoy making matcha pudding at home! 😊
